What do you do when fear, doubt, and life’s challenges come flying at you?
In Ephesians 6:16, the Apostle Paul tells us to “take up the shield of faith”—a spiritual defense capable of extinguishing every flaming arrow of the enemy. But biblical faith is more than positive thinking or believing everything will work out the way we want. It is a settled trust in the character and faithfulness of God.
In this message, Pastor Ron Cathcart explores what it means to live with resilient faith. Through Paul’s teaching and the stories of David and Joseph, we discover how faith helps us stand firm, resist temptation, and depend on God, even when life feels uncertain or overwhelming.
Key Takeaways: • Recognize the battle: Our struggle is spiritual, and we need God’s strength to stand firm (Ephesians 6:12–13).
• Understand biblical faith: Faith is not wishful thinking; it is confident trust in who God is and what He has promised.
• Take up your shield: Faith must be actively practiced when fear, doubt, temptation, and discouragement strike.
• Trust God’s faithfulness: God remains trustworthy even when we cannot see what He is doing.
• Refuse to negotiate with temptation: Like Joseph, we can choose obedience and rely on God for a way out.
Your Next Step:
What “flaming arrow” are you facing right now? Identify the fear, lie, temptation, or discouragement coming against you, and choose one promise from God’s Word to hold onto this week. Ask someone you trust to pray and stand with you.
