Wednesday Morning Softening: A Gentle Release for Your Nervous System
"Mindful Moments: Daily Breathing Exercises for Relaxation"Show Notes
Hi there, I'm Julia Cartwright, and I'm so glad you're here with me today. You know, it's early Wednesday morning, and if you're anything like most people I talk to, you might be feeling that familiar tension creeping in already. Maybe it's the weight of the week ahead, or perhaps you're carrying something from yesterday that just won't let go. Whatever it is, you're in exactly the right place. Today, we're going to practice something I call the "softening," and I promise you, it's going to feel like a warm hug for your nervous system.
Let's start by finding a comfortable seat, somewhere you can just be for the next few minutes without too many distractions. You can sit in a chair, on the floor, or even lie down if that feels better for you right now. There's no perfect posture here, just you, getting cozy with yourself.
Now, take a moment to notice your breath. You don't need to change it or control it, just notice it like you're watching clouds drift across the sky. In and out. In and out. Feel how your body rises and falls with each breath. There's no rush, no performance. Just breathing, and being alive in this moment.
Here's where the magic happens. I want you to imagine that with each exhale, you're releasing tension like water draining from a cup. Start with your shoulders, those faithful tension holders. As you breathe out, let them drop away from your ears. Feel that softness spreading. Now your jaw, your face. Let your forehead smooth out like you're ironing wrinkles from silk. Keep going down through your neck, your chest, your belly. Each exhale is an invitation to let go.
With every breath out, silently say the word "soften." Not as a command, but as a gentle permission to your body. Soften. Feel how your muscles respond to that kindness. You might notice a subtle unwinding, or maybe just a sense of permission, and that's absolutely enough. Stay here for a few more breaths, letting this softness spread through you like honey through warm tea.
As we finish, bring your awareness back to the room around you. Wiggle your fingers, move slowly. Notice how your body feels different, calmer perhaps, more spacious. And here's the beautiful part: you can return to this softening anytime today. At your desk, in your car, waiting in line. Just one breath, one gentle word. Soften.

Hey there, I'm Julia Cartwright, and welcome to Relaxation. I'm so glad you're here, especially right now—early Thursday morning, October twenty-third. You know what? These pre-dawn hours can feel a little tender. That transition between sleep and the day ahead. A lot of us carry invisible tension in those quiet moments, almost like our bodies are bracing for what's coming. Today, I want to help you soften into your day instead.
Well hello there, friend. I'm Julia Cartwright, and I'm so glad you've found your way here today. You know, it's early morning on a Tuesday, and I'm willing to bet that your mind is already spinning like a ceiling fan on high, isn't it? Maybe you woke up thinking about everything on your plate, or perhaps you're carrying tension from yesterday that just didn't quite release. Whatever brought you here, I want you to know that taking this time for yourself right now? That's already the hardest part done.
Hey there, I'm Julia Cartwright, and I'm so glad you're here. You know, it's early Saturday morning, and I'm guessing you might be feeling that familiar tug between wanting to ease into your day and the pressure to get moving. Maybe there's something on your mind, or maybe you're just running on empty. Either way, you've made the right choice by pressing play. This is your space for relaxation, and I promise you, the world can wait for the next few minutes.
Hey there, friend. Welcome. I'm Julia Cartwright, and I'm so glad you're here. You know, it's Thursday morning, and if you're anything like my friends right now, you might be feeling that particular kind of tired where your shoulders have basically become your earrings and your to-do list feels like it was written by someone who doesn't sleep. So today, we're doing something special. We're not rushing through relaxation. We're actually going to sink into it. Together.
