In Part 2 of our conversation with neuroscience educator Nathan Wallis, we dive deeper into neurodiversity, neuroplasticity, parenting teenagers and what it takes to change our own ingrained patterns as dads. Nathan discusses ADHD and autism as potential strengths, why changing behaviour requires more than simply deciding to change, and how our repeated responses gradually create new neural pathways. We also explore what dads can do when they feel they've damaged the relationship with their kids, particularly as they reach their teenage years. Nathan shares why listening, taking accountability and focusing on how our kids feel around us can be more powerful than trying to “fix” their behaviour. Nathan also introduces the “Mate Date”, a simple 10-minute weekly practice designed to create space for our kids to talk while we simply listen. In this episode: ADHD, autism and neurodiversity Neuroplasticity and changing our own patterns Repairing relationships with older kids Supporting teenagers through challenging behaviour The 10-minute “Mate Date” Why our kids don't need us to be perfect What Nathan has learned about fatherhood through becoming a grandfather

And we finish with a powerful reminder from Nathan: our past doesn't have to determine our future. We're incredibly resilient, our brains can change, and there's always hope.

***Stop Putting Your Health on Hold. Take the first step with the Dad Bod Reset, our six-week small-group coaching programme designed for busy dads.*** What does it take to stay strong, healthy and active for your kids, not just today, but in 10, 20 or even 30 years? In this episode, Tom sits down with Dave Liow, exercise physiologist, founder of Holistic Movement Coach and father of two, to explore the importance of investing in your health for the long game of fatherhood. Both Tom and Dave became fathers later in life, and having spent decades working in health and wellness, they share a passion for helping dads stay healthy, capable and present as their children grow. In this conversation, they explore: The challenges of moving countries, rebuilding a business and raising a young family. Why strength, mobility and healthy habits become increasingly important as we age. How parents can support sporty teenagers without pushing them towards burnout or overtraining. Practical ways busy dads can prioritise their health without sacrificing family time. Why finding a deeper purpose is the key to lasting lifestyle changes. And perhaps most importantly, it's never too late to start. Whether you're in your 30s, 40s, 50s or 60s, even if you've never exercised before, positive changes are possible. Because looking after your health isn't just about living longer. It's about being able to participate in your children's lives, and one day, your grandchildren's too. Be Better for Your Kids.
