The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - "The Girl with the Gazelle" (Old Time Radio, 1946)
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes | Old Time RadioShow Notes
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes presents “The Girl with the Gazelle,” episode 211, originally broadcast March 25, 1946. This late Mutual-network adventure stars Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson.
When French painting expert François Dulac sends an urgent appeal from London’s Carlton Hotel and then disappears, Holmes and Watson enter a dangerous art-world mystery. Their investigation leads to Sir Henry Davenant’s closely guarded painting, Young Girl with a Gazelle, and ominous threats tied to Professor Moriarty. Written by Denis Green and Anthony Boucher, the story is an original radio mystery inspired by Arthur Conan Doyle’s “The Adventure of the Final Problem.”
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
