The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - "The Case of the Out of Date Murder" (Old Time Radio, 1945)
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes | Old Time RadioShow Notes
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes presents “The Case of the Out of Date Murder,” originally broadcast September 17, 1945. This is episode 184 of the series, starring Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson.
While taking a seaside break in Eastbourne in September 1900, Holmes and Watson are drawn into Lady Helena Clavering’s troubling family mystery. A local museum, the Sussex Downs, and newly discovered limestone caves lend an eerie atmosphere to this original radio play by Anthony Boucher and Denis Green, produced by Harold Kemp for Mutual’s Petri Wine-sponsored broadcast.
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
