The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - "The Fifth of November" (Old Time Radio, 1945)
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes | Old Time RadioShow Notes
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes presents “The Fifth of November,” originally broadcast November 5, 1945. Episode 191 of the series stars Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson.
On a foggy Guy Fawkes Day in London, Holmes and Watson are visited by a worried man who fears a family threat may be tied to the old Gunpowder Plot and the night’s celebrations. Suggested by an incident in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s “The Adventure of the Devil’s Foot,” this Mutual Broadcasting System drama was written by Denis Green and Anthony Boucher.
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
