The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes | Old Time RadioShow Notes
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes presents “The Disappearing Scientists,” episode 213, originally broadcast April 8, 1946. This late Mutual Broadcasting System mystery stars Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson.
As Holmes considers retiring to a Sussex bee farm, Watson draws him into a troubling London University case: Professor Jean Boulin and his radium-research staff are disappearing one by one. Written by Anthony Boucher and Denis Green, the story sends Holmes from Baker Street into a tense investigation involving a rare radium sample and an urgent message from Mycroft Holmes.
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
