Seahawks Lose to Broncos in OT & Chiefs Preview

Welcome to Episode 7 of THE DARK SIDE: a podcast on the Seattle Seahawks! Your Super Bowl champion hosts Derick Hall and Byron Murphy II from the Seahawks’ Dark Side defense join KOMO Sports Director Niko Tamurian to reflect on Seattle’s 3-3 record so far this season.

Our hosts react to the 17-14 overtime loss to the Broncos. They share their main takeaways from the game. The good, the bad and what they think they need to improve on in order to bounce back in the following weeks. How the goal is to learn from these moments and come out the other side a better team. Derick also discusses the Seahawks continued emphasis on Redzone defense. Byron shares what it meant to be named a team captain for the game. Not to mention, is it more exhausting playing in the Denver altitude?

Still in the first half of the NFL season, Byron and Derick believe the Seahawks have the talent and culture to learn from these recent losses and come back a better team. A stat that showcases that fact, no defense in the NFL holds opponents to less yards per game than The Dark Side defense. The guys also give their shoutout of the week.

Our hosts then preview the upcoming Sunday Night Football matchup with the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs. Derick shares how electric the 12s get during Lumen Field primetime games and how excited he is to experience it on Sunday.

The guys discuss their respect for former teammate Kenneth Walker III and talk about how they look forward to matching up against him. Not to mention, game planning against Patrick Mahomes. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has been winning NFL games for a long time. So long in fact, Niko also reveals which Eagles game Andy Reid was coaching the day that Byron was born. Derick also shares what it meant to play with and learn from Seahawks legend Bobby Wagner.

Finally, the guys react to Calais Campbell becoming the 3rd ever 40+ year old player to earn a sack in an NFL game. They also reflect on the 18-16 Seahawks win over the Colts last year and playing against a 44-year-old Philip Rivers. Derick also shares his excitement after Auburn’s win over #1 ranked Georgia and repeats his belief that head coach Alex Golesh has them on the right track.
