The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - "The Eyes of Mr Layton" (Old Time Radio, 1945)
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes | Old Time RadioShow Notes
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes presents “The Eyes of Mr Layton,” originally broadcast September 24, 1945, as episode 185. This Mutual Broadcasting System drama stars Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson.
In fog-bound Limehouse, Watson’s search for an acquaintance leads him to an opium den—and to Holmes, working in disguise. A visit from businessman Mr. Layton soon draws the pair into a dangerous dispute with a commercial rival. Written by Anthony Boucher and Denis Green, this is an original radio story from the Petri Wine era of the series.
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
